We would like to extend our congratulations to our Performing Arts Teacher, Mr Josh Huxtable, and former St Paul teacher, Mrs Shannen Huxtable (nee Dixon), who were married over the weekend. It sounds like it was a wonderful celebration and we wish them every blessing for their future together.
Congratulations to Jess on her engagement to partner, Tim, over the weekend. We pray for them as they prepare and plan for their own exciting celebrations.
On Monday, we welcomed children leaders from a variety of Lutheran primary schools for a leadership training day. This was a fantastic opportunity for our School Captains to participate in an interactive workshop aimed at equipping, inspiring and encouraging the children in their roles in 2025.
Hugo and Mya, our School Captains, shared their thoughts on the day, sharing that they spent the day learning about “The 4 S’s of Leadership. They are: Spiritual Leadership, Servant Leadership, Support and Significant Others.
Mya shared that they learnt how to help students in the school and Hugo shared that they also learnt about how ALWS (Australian Lutheran World Service) helps countries in need.
Both leaders shared that the day was helpful and that they are looking forward to being School Captains this year.
Thanks for sharing, Mya and Hugo!
As a school, we always tell our children that we are all learners and try to talk with them about times we have learnt new things. Our staff team have been engaging in a lot of learning at the start of the 2025 school year. Our entire staff attended Berry Street Education Model training in the week before children returned to class. This training to develop our trauma-aware practices supported our staff with strategies to support children, effective language to use and helped us review our processes as a school to better support all children. Last week, a number of our teachers also spent the day learning and working with literacy consultant, Lisa Burman, to enhance how we teach writing skills. Teachers were able to observe Lisa teaching a lesson, unpack the strategies used after the lesson and plan out their Term 1 teaching units with Lisa.
We are so grateful to our staff for their commitment to ongoing learning and the passion they have for delivering the best education they can for children at St Paul.
