Culture & Inclusion

Head of Inclusion (HOI)

Last week we had Department of Education Occupational Therapist (OT), Sarah, and Physiotherapist (PT) Ebony, visit our school from Toowoomba.

During their visit the OT and PT worked with the school team to support students to access and participate in all areas of their education, including: • learning • following routines • interacting with others • classroom environment • organising and looking after themselves • transitions • alternate seating •participating in physical activities • being safe at school and managing emotions.

Our OT and PT visit twice a term and during this recent visit they supported students in classrooms, the playground and even the pool during PE swimming lessons!

From Week 7 this Term I will be moving into a regional role for the remainder of Semester One.  A replacement will be appointed as the Acting Head of Special Education for the remainder of this Semester.

Our continuing story..... see if you can find these symbols in our amazing painting.  If you have not yet seen it, please visit the office foyer next time you are at school.  Can you find these symbols?

There are lots of birds that fly over our school.  Aunty Cheryl says, “The name Goondiwindi comes from the aboriginal word “Goonawinna” which means “The Resting Place of the Birds”.   The big water circles down the middle of our  painting are the resting places for our birds. This is also the place where you will see our yellowbelly,  and cod fish. We love fishing with our friends and family.
