A very warm welcome back to Kitchen/Garden!

Summer is the most exciting time in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program.

Everyone is busy. The garden is busy giving us an abundance of produce, the bees are busy pollinating to keep that production going and our students are busy getting back to growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing.

Our Year 3 knife training program is almost complete, with fantastic results. These students are now ready to slice and dice their way to delicious dishes.

Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students have begun the year with a garden walk, taking in the beauty of the magnificent sunflowers and our produce, like corn, cucumbers, zucchini, beans and summer fruits.

To create an array of delicious dishes, this term we are harvesting tri-coloured heirloom zucchinis, lebanese cucumbers, tomatoes and sweet corn. Students in Year 4 have made a great start creating cheesy zucchini muffins while our Year 5 and 6 students have been making zucchini and cheddar scones served with spicy cucumber salsa.  The salsa proved to be a little spicy for some but perfect for others, but its great to see all students taking a responsible risk and giving these flavours a go.

Our new menu starts next week featuring our sweetcorn front and centre!
