Student Leadership Course
A team of aspiring Year 11 PVCC leaders partook in the Northern Education Alliance Student Leadership course over three days, travelling to different schools in the northern region to collaborate with peers from northern region schools.
The course culminated in a group presentations to peers, staff and principals from participating schools, at Parade College. Groups were asked to identify a gap and propose a new school initiative - Janie, Josiah, Amelia, Summer and Ishan did the school proud with their proposal to instate a Year 11 Camp in 2025.
Prayer for Year 12's
As we head toward Term 4, we take a moment to reflect on the magnitude of the beginning of the end of Secondary School, for our Year 12 students.
The beginning of the celebration of "Lasts" at Plenty Valley has already begun, their "last" HeArt of the Valley, "last" Senate bbq, "last" R U Ok Day and the list goes on. Thankfully our community is so well connected that we will see many of these families and friends at future events but there is a certain significance of your last year of secondary school and knowing you will never have this time again with your student cohort.
As believers in Christ, we recognise how we can do nothing in our own strength, and so we invite our faithful PVCC community to join with us in prayer for our Year 12 cohort, for upcoming exams, for celebratory end of year events, the special blessing assembly, Valedictory Dinners and most of all that they will know God's peace that surpasses all understanding as they move through this significant time in their life.
5, 10 and 20 year Alumni Reunion
What a joy it was to welcome back our alumni to their 5,10 and 20 year reunion last Saturday.
These events are such a blessing, not only to those that attend but often even more so to those of us who work behind the scenes to put them together! It is so gratifying to see how appreciative the past students are for these opportunities. Seeing the delight in those reconnecting with long lost friends and teachers is such a blessing to us in the Community Relations Team.
Our Alumni event began with a meet and greet and, as always, a beautiful display of food and barista coffee provided by local caterers Little Mouse Teahouse. We then heard from Principal John Metcalfe on the importance of connectivity to your past and how a college built and living out its Christian values is foundational in setting up our PVCC students well for life outside of our school gates. The afternoon ended with a tour of the school, with much reflection on former school days, and a spectacular sunset reflecting just a glimpse of God's glory.
Thank you to all who attended. We are already looking forward to our next one for the Graduating Classes of 2020, 2015 and 2005 PVCC students!
