Principals Update

- Sarah Rose, Principal

We have really hit the ground running this term with multiple excursions, incursions and sports teams heading out to compete at various levels.  We've also seen a solid uptake by our VCE students of the study support sessions running after school as they finish their formal classes this week and look ahead to the formal study period before the written examination period commences later this month.

Looking back for a moment, I would like to thank you for your generosity and support of the donation drive our Student Representative Council ran for the Gisborne Community Foodbank in the last two weeks of Term 3.  Wally and Cheryl from the Foodbank collected three trolley loads of donated goods on the last day of term together with fresh produce that our students harvested from our kitchen garden.  It is heartening to know we have been able to contribute to supporting families in need within our community.

Next week will be one filled with significant events for our school community.  On Monday we will see our Year 12 students participate in Celebration Day events which will culminate in the whole-school Graduation Assembly where they will be presented to family, friends, students and staff in formal graduation regalia.  This day is set to be a fun and emotion-charged day for our class of 2024 and their families and one that I'm thrilled to be a part of.  On Tuesday our Year 12s head to Funfields for the day, before focusing on study in the lead up to their exams.

To bookend next week, on Friday our Year 10 students will run the annual Market Place Day which is another day I really look forward to on our calendar.  Students and staff will be able to enjoy the fun the day brings but only those with pre-purchased tokens will be able to make purchases at stalls.  These are available for purchase via Xuno now as bundles of 5 and a maximum of 20.  Tokens will be distributed to students on the morning of Market Place Day.

Progress on our new Admin and Wellbeing Centre continues to progress well with joinery and internal fixtures now in place throughout and retaining walls and concrete paths having been laid to support the external landscaping.  Assuming progress continues at the current rate, the building is due for handover to the school by the end of November.

Finally, I would like to thank Dawn Hinrichsen for her work over the last several years as our Business Manager. Dawn has moved to a new role and I wish her all the best at her new school. I would like to congratulate and welcome Susanne Tzamouranis, who has been newly appointed to the role of Business Manager. Many of you will already know Susanne who has been working as our Community Liaison, and I wish her all the best as she takes on this new role within our school community

Kind Regards,

Sarah Rose
