Transition to School 2025

This term will see the 4 year old children prepare for their transition to school in 2025. The idea of starting school can be both exciting and a cause for some anxiety for some. 

The 4 year old kindergarten are familiar with the school playground, gym and library through regular visits during their sessions. This helps the children to become familiar of a school setting regardless if they are attending OPSK or another local school. 

In the coming months the 4 year old teachers will be writing your child's transition report. 

The Transition and Learning Statement is submitted to your child's school on completion by both teacher and families via an electronic platform. 

    "The Transition Learning and Development Statement (often referred to as the TLDS):

• summarises a child's learning and development
• identifies their approaches to learning and their interests
• indicates how the child can be supported to continue learning.

The Transition Learning and Development Statement is not a report card - the information in the statement helps Foundation teachers get to know the children starting in their class and plan appropriate learning and teaching programs."

Our Out of School Hours Care program is offering an orientation session for our four year old groups which is a fantastic way to introduce children who will use the service next year in either before or after school care. The dates for this will be decided and shared soon.

As a part of supporting children attending Oakleigh Primary School they will attend transition sessions. These transition sessions are all held during kindergarten sessions.  All children will participate in the first session (held in the kindergarten) regardless of whether they are attending OPS. Only children attending OPS will be attending the visits to the classrooms with children not atteding to remain in the kindergarten with their teacher. A permission slip for the child to attend will be provided soon.  The dates of the sessions are as follows:

If your child is attending another school and their transition sessions are on a kindergarten session please let their teacher know.
