He also spent six years as State Secretary of South Australian Labor, after which he served as the Chief Executive of an Adelaide law firm and as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion.
Michael was elected as the Member for Playford in March 2018 and, following an electoral redistribution, was elected in March 2022 as the Member of Florey.

We are a Happy Families College!
Our College is now subscribed to the Happy Families School Website!
Owned and run by Dr Justin Coulson, one of Australia’s leading parenting experts, the membership offers a wealth of parenting education and resources.
Dr Coulson has presented at Endeavour College on behalf of the Connected Schools, for the past two years on a range of helpful parenting topics. You may have seen him on Channel Nine’s Parental Guidance or regularly on morning television.
Instead of presenting in person at the College, we will regularly share resources available through the Happy Families Membership with you, including articles and webinars.
Happy Families Webinar:
Pixel Perfect: Screens, Social Media and your Daughter
Tween and teen girls don’t have a problem with screens. Just ask them.
They’ll tell you everything’s fine. But… ask them to put that screen away, get off social media, or stop obsessing over everything online and you’d better prepare for battle!
Of all people who use devices and screens, some researchers have found that adolescent girls are the most at risk of decreased wellbeing, friendship issues, and body image difficulties. Yet others find moderate use of devices can support wellbeing.
But is the problem the screen? Or is it something else?
In this webinar, Dr Justin Coulson (expert and host of Channel 9’s Parental Guidance) and Jocelyn Brewer (psychologist and founder of Digital Nutrition) answer your most vexing questions regarding tween and teen girls and their screens.
We’ll tackle themes including:
- The never-ending, incessant use of screens (and why “turn it off” is not going to cut it)
- What social media is doing to our girl’s body image and wellbeing
- Cyberbullying, nudes and screens in bedrooms
- How to set boundaries around screens that work for you AND her.
