Principal's message

Welcome back to Term 4

I hope our families had a most relaxing break over the school holidays. The opportunity to spend time with family and friends outside the daily routine is always warmly welcomed.

As we move into this term we are preparing for milestone events in the lives of our Year 6 students. This last 10 weeks of primary school will fly by extremely quickly, and soon they will be looking back at PPS, and the memories and bonds they have made.

Maintenance Update

Over the last two weeks the school has undergone a large upgrade to our school lighting. Every building within the school has LED lights installed. While this has increased the light within the learning spaces, we are also hoping it will reduce the school utility bills, providing additional funds to be spent elsewhere.

IGA Community Donation

A huge thank you to our local IGA for your generous donation to our school. Thank you for investing in our students and having the belief in their success.

We will be using the donation to purchase further resources to support the investigations of measurement and geometric reasoning aligned to the Mathematics syllabus.

Hats Off to Teachers - Celebrating World Teachers Day

Today NSW tipped their hats to the incredible educators who shape our future by celebrating World Teachers' Day. The day provides an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the immense effort and dedication that teachers put into their work. We are very lucky at Peakhurst PS to have such a dedicated group of teachers working with our students. Each day they strive to ensure the educational outcomes are being taught, giving students opportunities at differentiated levels to engage and learn within the classroom and extended beyond.

To assist with the celebrations, our teaching staff were spoiled today with a Morning Tea hosted by our School Administrative and Support Staff, an invitation to a hot cup of coffee on their way to school from the Peaky Grinder Cafe and pastries for afternoon tea from the Taste of Poland Delicatessen. The day ended with three extremely loud cheers from our students.

Future Planning

At this time of year, schools are very busy finalising planning details for the upcoming year. In order to assist with the planning process, we need to ensure our student information is accurate. Teaching and non-teaching positions are determined by enrolment numbers each year. In order for us to staff the school appropriately for 2025, we need to know as soon as possible if your child will not be attending Peakhurst Public School next year. If you intend on moving and changing schools, please let our school office know.

Additionally, if you intend on taking extended holidays during the summer holidays and will not be returning on Day 1, Term 1, 2025. You will need to complete an extended leave application by Week 9, Term 4, 2024.
