Year 3-4 Camp

This term, Years 3-4 went to Phillip Island. While we were there, we did lots of activities and had lots of fun. Some of the activities are, giant swing, flying fox and trampolines.(There are many more activities, too.) Then, we had lots of delicious food. On the first day, we brought our own lunch and snack but the rest of the food was provided by the camp.

On the second day, we went to the beach. At the beach, we played sport, built sand castles and played fun games. (Luckily, we didn’t swim because it was absolutely freezing!) On the way back to school, most of us slept, so the ones that were awake tried our best to stay quiet, not to wake the others! We all had an amazing experience at camp and we can’t wait to go again next year!

Moana performance

On Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th of October students in Years 5 and 6 performed the Production of Moana Jr.  This was a sell-out show where we sold over 700 tickets.

I am so proud of each student for getting up on stage and having fun. This show was a huge success thanks to the commitment from the staff and students. The main cast had learnt all their lines and never needed to be prompted, the ensemble had multiple songs, dances and costume changes throughout the show which is a huge achievement that no one was late onto the stage or didn’t know what they were doing.

I cannot thank the students enough for being so professional and gracious while doing rehearsals and the performances.  Thank you to the staff you are truly incredible and without you backstage the show could not have gone on.

This year we had judges from the Lyrebird Awards come and watch and we are looking forward to the feedback that they will provide to the students as to where to go next.

Looking forward to another musical next year.

Trivia Night

Friday the 13th of September came alive at Kaiju Brewery with OPS Trivia Night – our first in a very, very, very long time! Hosted by Funky Bunch Trivia, eleven tables of eager Parents and Teachers competed for the top spot consisting of 5 rounds, testing their knowledge of TV + Movies, Sport, General Knowledge, Pop Culture and Music. The night was lively and full of fun with games in-between the rounds such as ‘Closest to the Pin’ – a game where the closest thrown $2 coin to the ‘pin’ won either a bottle of Verve or a Dolce and Gabbana decorative tin. Followed by a game of ‘Heads or Tails’ which was enjoyed by all.

The night produced some creative team names, and deserving Trivia winners:

  • First Place - “Fleabane Jokers St”
  • Second Place - “No Seafood Pizza”
  • Third Place – “Victoria’s Secrets”

We trust all the winners enjoyed their hampers of mixed prizes. A special mention to “Three Greeks and an Aussie” in last place who walked away with….doughnuts (yes, real doughnuts from TODCO -The Oakleigh Doughnut Co.)

A big thank you to all our OPS community who purchased raffle tickets for the chance to win the Trivia Hamper (worth $1200). Acting Principle Anthony Rowe had the honour of drawing the winner - Congratulations to Victoria Sullivan of Foundation!

The prize winning didn’t stop there, with more than 10 other individual raffle prizes (from vouchers to electronic goods) won by Trivia contestants – an extra perk of being in-attendance and purchasing raffle tickets.

The Events Committee was overwhelmed by the generosity of many local businesses and sponsors who made donations towards the raffle: the total prize pool amounting to $2,900 RRP.

We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to:
