From the Principal
Dear Parents, Staff, and Community Members,
As we approach the end of another vibrant term, I am pleased to share some highlights and updates from our school.
Trivia Night
Our Trivia Night was a fantastic success, thanks to the enthusiasm and participation of our community. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, share some laughs, and support our school. Congratulations to the winners and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making the event such a memorable one.
Father’s Day Breakfast
We celebrated Father’s Day with a special breakfast, honouring the important role fathers and father figures play in our students' lives. The event was a great success, bringing families together for a morning of connection and celebration.
New Principal – Ruth Biddle
We are excited to announce that Ruth Biddle will be joining us as our new Principal. Ruth is the current Acting Principal at Huntingdale Primary School and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education that we are confident will greatly benefit the OPS school community. Please join me in welcoming Ruth as she transitions into her new role.
Year 3/4 Camp
I am delighted to report on the recent Year 3/4 camp, which was a resounding success. Held at The Island camp, Phillip Island from for 2 nights, this camp provided our students with invaluable opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and outdoor exploration. I would like to extend our gratitude to the dedicated staff and volunteers who ensured the camp was both safe and enjoyable for all participants. Their hard work and enthusiasm were crucial to the success of this experience.
Overall, the camp was a memorable and enriching experience for our Year 3/4 students, and it has provided a solid foundation for their continued personal and academic development.
Year 5/6 Production of Moana
The Year 5/6 production of Moana was a spectacular showcase of our students’ creativity, talent, and hard work. Held at South Oakleigh College, the performance was met with rave reviews from students, parents, and staff alike. I would like to thank the production team, including our dedicated teachers, stage crew, and volunteers, who put in countless hours to ensure the success of this production. Their commitment and creativity played a crucial role in making this performance a highlight of the school year.
Footy Day (Colours Day)
Footy (Colours Day) Day is a highlight for many, with students and staff donning their favourite team colours. It is a day filled with excitement and camaraderie, showcasing our school spirit and love for various games, teams and cultures. Students have been asked to donate a gold coin. This year we are donating to the State Schools Relief fund which can be found here: State Schools' Relief (stateschoolsrelief.org.au) SSR is a not-for-profit organisation that improves the lives of tens of thousands of disadvantaged Victorian students, and their families each year.
