Year 10

Term 2 has already been packed with opportunities, achievements and memorable experiences for our Year 10 students. Across academics, sport, leadership, excursions and the arts, students have continued to represent Berwick College with aspiration, belonging and community values.
The following has been stated by the Year 10 Student Representatives Torah Frost and Makayla Healy:
“The term began with year level assemblies and presentations designed to help students prepare for the future, including important conversations around pathways beyond school, work experience, respectful relationships and making positive choices. Many students are now looking forward to the upcoming careers expo, where we will get a chance to explore different courses, pathways and career options. This experience will not only help us think about future pathways, but also assist in deciding work experience for September.
Outside the classroom, students have embraced a wide range of opportunities to extend their learning. Year 10 Legal Studies students attended the Magistrates’ Court, gaining a firsthand look at the Victorian legal system in action, while students studying Rights and Freedoms travelled into Melbourne to further explore democracy, law and citizenship. These excursions provided valuable real-world experiences and allowed students to connect classroom learning with the world around them.”
Year 10 students have also proudly represented the college through sport and extracurricular activities. Athletics Day once again brought plenty of energy, house spirit and friendly competition, with students demonstrating teamwork, resilience and encouragement throughout the day.
Several students have since progressed to Southern Metropolitan Region competitions, including the Year 10 Boys Baseball team and the Year 10 Girls Tennis team.
Our performing arts students have also had an incredible start to the term at the recent Dance Star competition, and we would like to congratulate all of the Year 10 students who successfully progressed to the next round. The performances showcased the talent, commitment and confidence of our students and were a fantastic achievement for the college.
Another amazing experience this term was the 10OES cycling camp that experienced exciting adventures around Phillip Island. Students challenged themselves physically and mentally while building independence, teamwork and lasting memories throughout the camp.
Students also demonstrated outstanding community spirit during the ANZAC commemorative assembly and through their support of the Dunlop and Monash House Day BBQ and football match.
It has been fantastic to see Year 10 students stepping up, getting involved and contributing positively to the school community.
