Living our Values

The Berwick College Positive Behaviour Matrix
At Berwick College, we are committed to fostering a supportive, safe, and productive learning environment for every student. To achieve this vision, we utilise our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Matrix alongside our values, a framework designed to clearly outline the expectations we have for our students across all aspects of school life. The matrix is the "roadmap" for success at the College. It translates our core values into everyday actions, ensuring that everyone knows what it looks like to be a proud member of the Berwick community. By defining behaviours in specific settings, we provide students with the consistency they need to thrive.
OUR CORE VALUES:
ASPIRATION: We make and seek to achieve goals and capitalise on our learning in order to reach our potential. To do so is personally enriching and means we can make contributions that add value to the community.
BELONGING: We are stronger and better for being a diverse community unified by a shared commitment to inclusion and respect, care, kindness and mutual wellbeing. This builds a deep sense of pride in who we are as a College community
COMMUNITY: We are stronger and better for being a diverse community unified by a shared commitment to inclusion and respect, care, kindness and mutual wellbeing. This builds a deep sense of pride in who we are as a College community
DILIGENCE: We recognise that success comes with sustained, targeted effort and support each other to develop the persistence and resilience that builds character and brings its own reward.
EXCELLENCE: We aim to give and do our best whatever the task. To do so is to respect ourselves and others, value learning, demonstrate passion, honour our opportunities and welcome celebration.
HOW PARENTS CAN HELP
We encourage parents to review the matrix with their children at home. Reinforcing these concepts outside of school hours helps students internalise these values. You might ask your child:
1. "How did you show 'Belonging' in the yard today?"
2. "What goals did you set for 'Aspiration' in your learning area?"
3. "How are you staying safe and respectful in the 'Digital Environment'?"
We thank our parents and carers for their ongoing support in helping our students strive for excellence every day.
