The Arts and Technologies

The Art and Technologies team started the term with several exciting extracurricular activities both within and outside the school.
In Week 2, Year 11 and 12 Art Creative Practice students visited the Top Arts exhibition at the NGV, where they viewed artworks from emerging artists across the state who are completing their VCE studies. They also had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and view the folios of exhibiting artists. As students currently completing the subject themselves, they were able to relate the exhibition to their own work and make meaningful connections, helping them achieve their goals as they continue developing their visual language throughout the year.
In Week 3, the Art team opened the staff exhibition Beyond the Classroom, featuring artworks created by staff members across the school. Staff from a variety of backgrounds participated in the exhibition, resulting in a wide range of works on display, from crochet pieces to oil paintings. The Art team is proud to celebrate the talents of our staff and is excited to invite students to view the exhibition and appreciate the artistic side of their teachers beyond the classroom. The exhibition opened on Tuesday 5 May and will remain on display until Thursday 26 May in the library corridor display cabinet. All students are invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award, with voting slips and the ballot box located in the library. Thank you to everyone who submitted an artwork for the exhibition. We are delighted that art-making continues to be part of your lives beyond the classroom, whether as a hobby or a profession. We can’t wait to see what you create next!
Meanwhile, Art Club has also started the term strongly, with a great turnout during the first few weeks. Many senior students were working on their folios, while others were enjoying the opportunity to focus on personal art projects. We look forward to another exciting term of creativity, collaboration, and artistic growth across the Arts and Technologies faculty.
