GRIP Leadership Conference - Monday 11th May

Our Year 6 leaders recently attended the GRIP Leadership Conference, and we couldn't be prouder of how they represented our school. As a premier national training event, GRIP is renowned for turning "leadership" from a title into a set of practical, everyday habits.

What did we learn? The conference focused on three core pillars:

  • Leading with Heart: Understanding that true leadership is about serving others.

  • Practical Strategies: Gaining "day-one" skills to improve school culture and engagement.

  • Unity in Action: Learning how to collaborate effectively as a leadership team rather than working in isolation.

Year 6 have already generated some great ideas to bring back into our school community, such as introducing 'reading buddies', moving our 'buddy bench' and creating a designated space for this and teaching students about the importance of placing rubbish in the correct bin are just some of the many wonderful ideas. Year 6 will work alongside the newly elected SRC members to bring some of their ideas to fruition. Watch this space!

Celebrating Growth: Assessment Season

Over the coming weeks, our teachers will be conducting various assessments to celebrate the progress and growth of our students. These snapshots of learning include PM Benchmarks (Reading), PAT Reading and Mathematics, and the Armidale Catholic Schools 'Cold Write'. PAT Reading and Mathematics are standardised assessments that provide teachers with an objective view of our children's current skills and help identify specific areas for future growth. These tools allow us to see exactly how far they have come and where we can support them next. Our young people have been putting in incredible effort in the classroom, and we are so excited to see their hard work reflected in their results.
