K, 1 - Miss Smith

Learning Intention: We are learning to recall story details using the 5 Ws.

Kinder and Year 1 have been learning how to understand and retell stories using the 5 Ws: Who, What, When, Where, and Why.

We are learning how to break stories into key details to help us become confident readers and clear storytellers. By asking these questions, students are learning to recall important information, organise their thinking, and share their ideas more clearly.

2, 3 - Miss Bustard

Learning Intention: We are learning to gather and organise data, display data in lists, tables and picture graphs and provide reasons when interpreting the results.

Our mathematicians are currently stepping out of the classroom and into the field. This week, we are busy exploring the school grounds to collect real-time data. Whether it’s surveying favourite playground spots or tracking the colours of passing cars, the students are seeing firsthand how numbers exist all around us.

Back in the classroom, we are translating our raw tallies into detailed graphs. We are experimenting with different visual displays to determine which best represent our information most effectively. By connecting our data to real-life situations, the students are discovering that statistics are more than just dots on a page; they are a way to tell a story about our community.

4, 5 & 6 - Mr Prince

Learning Intention: We are learning to add fractions with the same denominator and add mixed fractions.

During Mathematics, Year 4/5/6 have been learning about fractions. We have explored how to add fractions with the same denominator and how to add mixed fractions. We used visual models, number lines, and hands-on activities to help build their understanding and confidence when solving fraction problems. It has been wonderful to see our young people explaining their thinking and working collaboratively during Maths.
