Prayer for Easter Season - Recreate the World

Creator God, Because of your abundant love you chose to bring light and order into the formless void, to create a world of unsurpassed beauty and you saw that it was good. We ask that you continue to recreate the world with that same attentive love, to bring light into today’s ever increasing chaos and darkness where we have failed to be stewards and carers of your creation. Replenish our hearts so that we too can renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

Staff Professional Learning Day

Last Friday the staff spent the day learning about Catholic Core Principles and Values and explored how they can be embedded into our everyday teaching and learning. Staff also participated in learning different ways to break open scripture for students to encounter and understand the scriptures and relate them to our world today.

Breaking Open Scripture in Action - Yr 3 Biblical Micrography

This week Yr 3 has been exploring Luke 24:1-12 (Jesus Has Risen), they used Biblical Micrography to encounter and respond to the scripture. Biblical Micrography is a unique Jewish art form developed in the late 9th century, where Hebrew script is used to create intricate geometric patterns, abstract designs or figurative shapes. The tiny writing often forms the outlines of decorative imagery, transforming textual content into visual art.

St Carlo Acutis Travelling Exhibition plus First Class Relic

St Xavier’s staff and students will be visiting The St Carlo Acutis Travelling Exhibition on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of May. The exhibition will also be set up for parishioners to visit on Sunday 17th of May.

Saint Carlo Acutis (1991–2006) was a lay Catholic young man who lived a holy life for only a short time, but he tried to love God every day. He was born in London on 3rd May 1991, and later his family moved to Milan.

Carlo had a special love for Jesus in the Eucharist. He often said: “L’Eucaristia è la mia autostrada per il Cielo!” (“The Eucharist is my highway to Heaven!”). After receiving the sacraments, he began to attend Mass every day when he could. Carlo also showed kindness and helped people in need. He cared about the poor and those who were suffering and he shared what he had. He prayed the Rosary every day and was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Carlo was good with computers and used his skills to do helpful things for others—like teaching children about the faith and even creating a worldwide exhibition about Eucharistic miracles. The Church recognized Carlo’s holiness, and his canonization happened on 27th April 2025. His memorial (feast day) is 12th October.

Carlo Acutis teaches us that we can be saints by:

  • going to Mass and loving Jesus
  • praying the Rosary
  • being kind to others, especially people in need
  • using our talents to do good
