Williamstown Campus News

Dear Families,
It has been a fantastic start to Term 2, with students returning positively and settling quickly into routines.
A Strong Start to the Term
Last week saw the commencement of several key programs, including Raise Mentoring, along with the Big Sister and Man Cave programs. Our students who attended the Alpine School have now returned, and we look forward to seeing how they apply their experience back at school. Late last week, some of our Performing Arts students attended a performance of The Bookbinder, which was a fantastic opportunity.
This Week
This week, Drumbeat and Teen Mental Health First Aid are beginning, continuing our strong focus on student wellbeing and engagement. In addition, our student leaders are representing the College at the Hobsons Bay Youth Change Makers program. We also have two of our students will be participating in the Operation Newstart Experience, commencing this week and running for the term.
Key Events This Week
Open Day will be held this Thursday. We look forward to welcoming future families into the College and showcasing the great work happening across our community. On Friday, our annual Athletics Carnival will take place. Williamstown students will attend school as normal, have their roll marked in wellbeing, and then travel by bus to the venue, returning in time for normal dismissal. This is a highlight of the school calendar, promoting participation, house spirit and connection. All students are encouraged to get involved, whether competing or supporting their house. Students should wear their PE uniform or house colours and bring a packed lunch, as purchasing options will be limited. Students with injuries will require medical clearance to participate.
Reminders
Uniform
As the weather cools, please ensure your child has the appropriate uniform to stay warm. This is a good opportunity to check sizing and update any items if needed.
Attendance
We were very pleased with attendance in Term 1, with 75% of students achieving 95% or higher. Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing the importance of regular attendance. Consistent attendance remains vital for both learning and wellbeing.
Industrial Action
The AEU has advised of further industrial action this term. We will communicate any impacts on college operations as soon as more information becomes available.
Bus Interruptions
Impacts to trains from the Level Crossing Removal have now finished and hopefully transport will return to normal.
