Yesterday we were entertained and amazed by the sounds of three talented musicians - Julia Russoniello (violin), Nick Russoniello (saxophones), and Murilo Tanouye (guitar) performed a range of songs with jazz, Brazilian and percussive influences. The students had the chance to see and hear the violin and saxophones up close and personal as the musicians played and moved through the audience. 'Barry' the barritone had us all (especially the front row) laughing as Nick performed an incredible piece written for solo saxophone that highlighted the cool different sounds the instrument could make. Murrilo taught us all some words in his native tongue, Portuguese - "Vamos juntos para o Brasil" which we sang together and Julia showcased the violin with some beautiful improvisation. What a show!
The students will continue learning about and through the music from the 'We're on Air' show in music lessons and we will play some of our own inspirations at our end of term performance in Week 10.
Our next School performance will be held on Monday, 22nd June, in celebration of World Music Day.

Emily is working with our Year 4 and 5 girls in a drumming circle. Drumming circles offer numerous mental, emotional, and physical benefits, fostering community, enhancing well-being, and promoting healing through rhythm and connection.
