SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability at Home
Sustainability doesn’t have to be big or complicated, it starts with small, everyday choices at home. As a school, we are encouraging students to think about how they can care for the environment, and we’d love for families to continue these conversations beyond the classroom.
At home, sustainability can look like simple actions such as turning off lights when leaving a room, using reusable bags and drink bottles, separating recycling correctly, or saving food scraps for compost. Involving our children in these routines helps them understand that their actions matter and that they can make a real difference.
Here are some questions you might like to explore together:
- What things do we use every day that we could reduce, reuse, or recycle?
- How can we save water or electricity in our home?
- Where does our rubbish go after we throw it away?
- What small change could we make this week to help the environment?
You might also like to try:
- Starting a small veggie patch or herb garden
- Having a waste-free lunch day at home or school
- Going on a nature walk and noticing local plants and wildlife
- Collecting food scraps for a compost bin or garden
These small, shared experiences can spark curiosity, build responsibility, and empower children to care for the world around them. By working together at school and at home, we are helping our children grow into thoughtful, environmentally responsible citizens, making a positive impact for a better future.
