The College will once again participate in the Resilient Youth Survey during the first two weeks of Term 2. This marks our third consecutive year of administering the survey to students in Years 3–12.

The Resilience Survey is an evidence-informed online wellbeing instrument designed specifically for Australian schools. It collects cohort-level data across key areas of student wellbeing, including:

  • Strengths
  • Life satisfaction
  • Hopefulness
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Coping styles
  • Risk and protective behaviours

Co-developed by Resilient Youth Australia in partnership with the University of Adelaide, the survey has been completed by over 850,000 young Australians aged 7–19 across more than 3,250 schools nationwide. The survey provides aggregated data only. Individual students cannot be identified in any report shared with the College. Responses are confidential and anonymous, with secure data transmission and storage protocols. College staff receive survey data in aggregate, which can be filtered by year level and gender only. This ensures that no individual student responses are identifiable.

Past survey results have guided targeted wellbeing initiatives, such as:

  • A weekly reading program within the Senior Years pastoral care program, responding to lower levels of recreational reading
  • Activities promoting joy and connection across the Middle Years

Survey Administration

  • The survey takes approximately 20–25 minutes to complete
  • It will be conducted in classrooms with teacher support where required

Sample questions include:

  • “I have parents/carers who encourage me to do well”
  • “I have at least one good friend at school”
  • “I have a teacher at my school who cares about me”
  • “I can talk about things if they upset me”
  • “My friends and I can disagree about things and still be friends”

Responses are rated on a scale of:

  • Never or Rarely;

  • Sometimes;

  • Often;

  • Always or Almost Always
