PLT's in Term 2
In PLT’s this Term, we are focusing on Cognitive Load Theory aligned to the VTLM 2.0 (Explicit Teaching and Retention & Recall), through team specific Improvement Cycles. PLT’s identify a problem of practice, evaluate relevant data, set goals, and use formative assessment to develop and monitor a plan for student improvement.
What is Cognitive Load Theory?
Cognitive Load involves working memory (new information) and long-term memory (recalling prior knowledge). When teaching new information we need to be aware of the difficulty of the information being shared, how much is being shared and how we are sharing it by knowing how our students learn.
