Year 3 - Middle Unit

The Year 3 teachers would like to warmly welcome you to the 2025 school year. We are looking forward to getting to know your children and working with them to develop new skills and explore new challenges. The students have done a fantastic job of settling into Term 1, adjusting to their new classroom environment and day-to-day routines.

In Literacy, students have been covering the various parts of the Reading and Writing workshops. The focus of this week’s Reading Workshop has been creating a balanced reading diet and focusing on what type of books we like. In the Writing workshop, students have been looking at their Writer’s Notebook and working on planting ‘seeds’ in it to help with their idea generation. Students are now looking at Writing to Persuade, unpacking the different persuasive techniques authors use to convey a message or opinion.

In Numeracy, students have been working on strengthening their ability to manipulate numbers using Place Value. Students have enjoyed a host of hands-on activities, all focused on the importance of Place Value on all the difference facets of mathematics.
