Friendship is a Gift

Christmas Colouring

As the year comes to an end, we wanted to share a free downloadable Christmas-themed colouring booklet from the Life Skills Group.  Perfect for all stages in primary school, this festive resource is designed to be fun, creative, and easy to use, making it ideal for keeping children engaged during the busy lead-up to the holidays, especially when families are busy preparing for Christmas.

Tis the season to be asking R U OK?

Christmas and the holiday season can be a difficult time for some people who struggle with the strain of financial pressure, work demands, current events, grief, or a challenging family situation.

2025 New Year's Placemat

As the year draws to a close, reflecting on family highs and lows can be a simple and meaningful way to connect. Sharing favourite moments and challenges that were overcome during the year can then lead to discussions about what we are most excited about in the coming year.

The below placemat from Big Life Journal can be a way to start the conversation and record goals for 2025.

Try these tips for prioritising self-care from ReachOut Australia.

1. Stick to your boundaries

Know your limits and remember it’s okay to just say ‘no’. This could look like turning down an invite, leaving an event early, taking a break from socialising or social media, sticking to a budget, or asking to make alternative plans.

2. Call or chat with a friend or family member

Chat to someone you trust about what’s on your mind, or just as a fun distraction. Talking with the right person can help you feel less alone, relieve stress, lighten the load and give you a new perspective.

3. Do something active

Exercise helps relieve stress and releases endorphins, which help to boost your mood. It also helps you sleep better and can be an opportunity to socialise. It could be as simple as going for a walk with a friend or dancing to some music at home.

4. Take some me-time

The holidays can get busy with social commitments and family time. Don’t forget to carve out some time for yourself to do something relaxing and that makes you feel good. It could be reading a book, gaming, gardening or arts and crafts.

5. Reflect on the past year and create goals for the year ahead

Making a list of goals can help give you direction and a sense of excitement for the future. To stay motivated with goals, start small and make it specific, achievable and give it an endpoint. Read on for more tips of staying motivated with goals.
