Standing Tall Celebration Event
On Thursday 28th November, twelve of our Standing Tall Mentoring students joined students from all of the other participating schools in an end of year Celebration event. Students had a great time catching up with the mentors, playing golf and putting competitions. A lovely BBQ was also provided to the students.
We have had a fantastic year in the Standing Tall program with mentors and mentees undertaking a range of activities such as board games, cooking, excursions and craft creations.
In 2025, we will have two Standing Tall lunchtime sessions, with eight new Year 7 students carrying over their involvement from primary school. This will take our total of students to well over 20 students, making us by far the largest school in the program.
We are seeing positive outcomes every week with all students and feel grateful to Dee and Erica from Standing Tall for their contributions each week to the program.
Natalie Templeton, from our Monivae Wellbeing Hub, will be taking over the running of this program in 2025, she will do an amazing job and has been supporting the program in 2024.
Student Wellbeing Committee 2025
Belinda Carroll (Wellbeing Hub) will be leading a very enthusiastic group of Year 8-12 students in the newly created Student Wellbeing Committee in 2025. Students will be involved in arranging events linked to mental health and wellbeing
Congratulations to the following students who will be a part of this group:
Students will be launching the new committee with a free breakfast in the basement on Friday morning this week, to celebrate the last day of school. A breakfast program is one of the ideas being discussed by this group for 2025.
Standing Tall Christmas Party
This week, we held our final Standing Tall mentoring session for 2024 with a Christmas party. We ate lots of lovely food from the Standing Tall crew and from our share plates, exchanged Kris Kringle gifts, socialised and listened to Christmas songs.
Support over the holiday break
Our Wellbeing Hub team will be taking a VERY well-deserved break over the Christmas holidays and will be unavailable via telephone or email. If you should require wellbeing support for your young person over the holidays, please see a number of helpful resources below and ways parents/carers can support young people.
Thanks to the Wellbeing Hub team: Katee Mitchell, Belinda Carroll, Natalie Templeton and Matthew Crane for another fantastic year.
Have a safe and happy holidays, see you all in 2025!
