Infants and Primary
INFANTS
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in the Infants Building. The festive spirit is being felt as we’re having fun with the countdown to Christmas and the end of term. There are loads of special events happening over the final two weeks of the school year, so please keep an eye out in the newsletter and Compass for information. We look forward to our friends and family being a part of many of them and celebrating student achievements and milestones with us.
Our Intensive Swimming Scheme has been running over the last fortnight for some Year 2 students, and they have been enjoying the chance to cool off in the pool. Miss Downey and Mrs Shore have been helping them learn the vital skills of swimming and water safety and they are all making great progress. A huge thank you to Miss Downey and Mrs Shore for making this program work for our students!
As the year draws to a close, please make sure you return any Library books or school readers back to school. Our resources are a vital part of our teaching and learning, so it is appreciated if they can be returned, ready to be used again next year.
Kindy
Our class has been busy reading, reading, and reading. We’ve also been doing loads of writing to really practice these skills before the year is out. What progress we’ve made! Everyone had fun writing a letter to Santa this week – keep an eye out in the local paper to see these in print.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring measurement and data. A highlight was designing a boat and seeing how many counters it could hold before sinking. There was a wide range of designs built, with some having a lot more buoyancy than others, and lots of re-designing happening. Lots of fun hands on learning!
Year 1
This fortnight, students have been busy in all areas of the curriculum in finishing the year off.
In English, Year 1 really enjoyed exploring a range of cultural artefacts. Thank you to the fabulous staff that loaned us these items. These included an Indian Saree, a Japanese Tea Pot, a Didgeridoo, Coolomon and Tapping sticks, Ponaumas from New Zealand and Poi also from New Zealand. Students chose an item and conducted research to answer further questions, helping them to write an information report. Thank you, Miss. Parker, for spending time with students exploring the Pounamas and sharing your culture with us all.
In Mathematics, we have been learning about 3D objects, naming, building and investigating a range of objects. Students did a fabulous job at this unit and are now expert prism builders.
In Sport this term, Year 1 has been teaming up with kindergarten and 2/3 to engage in group sports. Students have enjoyed participating in activities with different teachers and students and have been accessing the skills at their own levels. We have all been working on throwing, bouncing and catching skills.
Please keep an eye out on Compass for student invitations to the merit event that is happening next week- congratulations to all those students who have made it. In week 10, Year 1 will be engaging in their feather celebration (for positive behaviour achievements) and you will also find information about this on compass. As always, please contact the school with any enquiries.

Science in Kindergarten and Year 1
Year 1 and Kindergarten students took part in a fun and colorful experiment where they watched Skittles dissolve in water and create a rainbow of colors. They arranged the Skittles around the edge of a plate and added warm water, observing how the colors slowly spread across the plate. During the experiment, the students also discussed what happens to sugar in our bodies. They came up with some fun ideas, imagining how the sugar from the lollies might turn our insides rainbow for a little while before eventually turning brown. It was a hands-on and enjoyable way for the children to explore how different substances interact with water while learning about science!

Year 3/4
Our classroom has been buzzing with creativity, learning, and memorable experiences over the past few weeks. In English, students have been working hard to retell cultural narratives, including Dreamtime stories and tales from other cultures. They began by rewriting these stories in their own words, focusing on structure and expression, and are now in the process of creating beautiful books to share their retellings. This project has also been a great opportunity to build digital skills, with students using Google Classroom to create their work and respond to feedback from teachers. Their dedication to improving their writing and publishing their work has been impressive!
In Maths, our focus has shifted to understanding and applying the formula for area (A = L x W). Students have been using their knowledge of times tables, and this formula to calculate the area of rectangles and squares, building their confidence with measurement concepts, including square centimetres and metres. Maths Ninja continues to be a favourite, with students eagerly racing against the clock each day to improve their times table fluency. Wednesdays, now known as "Ninja Ranking Day," bring extra excitement as students aim to climb the Ninja Maths ranks and improve each week.
Science lessons with Mrs Shore have been a hit, with students exploring forces through hands-on experiments, like seeing which types of shoes have the most friction. Students discovered that big heavy boots, like steel capped boots, have more friction than regular gumboots.
Meanwhile, in Geography, students have been learning about protecting our environment. They’ve created engaging Google Slides presentations on waste and recycling, showcasing their ideas on how we can care for the planet.
A highlight of recent weeks was our excursion to Wagga Wagga on Tuesday. We had an action-packed day visiting Flip Out, the Museum of the Riverina, the Wagga Wagga Regional Art Gallery, and the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory. The students represented our school with impeccable behaviour and enthusiasm, making us all proud. It’s safe to say there were some tired but happy faces on the bus ride home!
As we look forward to the rest of the term, I’m sure we’ll continue to see incredible learning and achievements from our Year 3/4 class. Thank you for your ongoing support, and as always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

Wagga Wagga Excursion
On Tuesday, the 3rd of December, 3-6 students travelled to Wagga Wagga for their annual excursion. Lots of fun was had by all, and students are to be commended on their behaviour throughout the day. On Wednesday, some students wrote short recounts outlining their day, and I encourage you to take the time to read these below.
On Tuesday on the Wagga Excursion, we went to a couple of very cool places. First, we had to go on a big bus to get to Wagga. It was a very long drive. It felt like it took an eternity to get there. I sat next to Kenzie on the bus to Wagga.
After we got there, we saw Flip Out. Everyone was so excited when they saw the building. Everyone got out of the bus, and we got our bags out from under the bus. Then we went inside the place, which was so cool. We had to wear these very comfy socks to prevent us from slipping. We finally went downstairs to the trampolines. It was so exciting. The trampolines were so bouncy and so fun. There was a big air bag and lots of trampolines. We were all laughing and having fun with each other - it was so fun! There was also a big slide that you had to slide down in a bag. It was so fast.
We eventually had to leave Flip Out but then we had lunch. We ate lunch outside the library. Then when we finished lunch, we went inside the library and there were all sorts of cool things in there. Then it was our turn to go to the art gallery. There were all sorts of cool things like paintings, videos and knitting. It was so cool to learn the backstory behind the artwork. I was so amazed by all the art.
After that we left and had to get back on the bus and go to Junee. I sat next to Grace C on the way to Junee. We were talking the whole way to Junee. When we got to Junee, I finally saw the Junee Chocolate Factory for the first time! I was so excited, but we had to wait about 20 minutes because 5/6 went to the chocolate factory before us. So, while we were waiting, we went to the adventure playground. It was so fun, there was a flying fox and the bridge was flooded so you could not go across it. Then we had to leave the adventure playground, and we had to go to the Junee Chocolate Factory. We entered the Junee Chocolate Factory, and the smell made me hungry. Then some people made chocolate freckles while others went into the gift shop and bought something. I bought some chocolate freckles and some white chocolate.
Then we had to leave the Junee chocolate factory and get back on the massive bus back to Boorowa. I sat next to Grace C on the bus again. It was so fun. I wish we didn't have to go back home. I can't wait to go on the next excursion. It was so fun.

On Tuesday I had the best day. We left the house at 7:05 am in the morning and the bus left at 7:30 in the morning and then we arrived at Wagga Wagga. We got to Flip Out and we had to put on special socks. Then we went to bounce. I jumped off a massive wall and landed on the trampoline, I was worried I had hurt myself! Next, I went to jump on another trampoline that let us jump into a giant airbag. I nearly did a front flip because I jumped so high.
After we left Flip Out we went to go to the gardens next to the library. It started to rain so we went into the library after lunch. There, we had a look around before going to the Museum of the Riverina. There was a lot of stuff in there about Wagga Council. In there, there was a big room with lots of drawings about the history and people of Wagga. Next, we went to the Art Gallery, and it had a lot of art. There was a giant screen with a picture of a snake. When you stayed still, you could see the snake, but when we moved it went away. It was cool.
Then we got back on the bus and then we drove to Junee Chocolate Factory. We got to make our own chocolate freckles and buy things from the gift shop. We waited for a bit while people finished buying their chocolate, then we got back on the bus and went home. It was a great day in Wagga, and I had fun.

My class ¾ went on an excursion to Wagga Wagga on Tuesday with the ⅘ class and the ⅚ class. First our class went to Flip Out and ⅚ went to Vortex. At Flip Out we bounced around on the trampolines and we had a snack before we went out onto the trampolines.
Then we went out on the trampolines and we started to play with a little basketball. We would kick it, throw it at each other, and even tried to bicycle kick it. After we left, we had lunch at the library and then we went to the Wagga Art Gallery and looked around at the art.
After we went to the gallery, we went to Junee and went to the adventure park we played soccer and our feet got soaked. After the playground we went to the chocolate factory and lots of us got chocolate from the gift shop. Some of us made our own freckles, and there were also chocolate blocks and lots of things we could buy.
After that we went home. We got back on the bus and I sat next to Finn. We talked and played “I Went to the Supermarket” with Miss Groves. I got home just in time for dinner. It was a fun day and we got to do lots of fun stuff.

Year 3/4 went on an excursion yesterday and it was fun. We went to Flip Out and a museum and art gallery, and it was fun, and on the way back home, we stopped at the chocolate factory.
We made it safely back to Boorowa and it was fun. On the way back we played I Spy, and some people were sleepy and had a nap on the way home.

On Tuesday the 3rd of December it was the Year 3 to 6 excursion. It was early in the morning when we had to go. It was a long but fun drive. When we were finally at Flip Out we went upstairs into the party room and put on the socks and went down to the trampolines. There were so many cool things. There was a big slide and a lot of trampolines too of course.
After a bit we had to go and have lunch and then we went to the Wagga Library and played games. Then we went to the museum and the stuff was so cool there was a story about a girl and the Queen. After that we went to the art gallery and the art amazed me. It was all beautiful. We stayed there for a bit. Then we hopped on the bus and went to the adventure playground then we went to the Junee Chocolate and Licorice Factory and some people made their own chocolate freckles and went to the gift shop. Then I went home and it was a really good day.
