Foundation

We did it! The 2024 school year has finally come to an end but it has been such a wonderful first year of school for our Foundation students.

We have learnt and explored so many new things this year and we're sure all students have enjoyed themselves.

Here is a recap of our last couple weeks!

Literacy

We learnt the digraph au which makes the /or/ sound. Students have noticed how many digraphs can make the same sound and are experimenting using the different digraphs in their writing. As we are getting into the Christmas spirit, students have also enjoyed writing letters to Santa and completing other Christmas writing pieces.

Maths

In Maths, students looked at capacity. They used hands on materials, such as jugs, containers and bottles, to compare the capacity of sand and water.

Junior Athletics Day

On Friday the 6th of December, we had our Junior Athletics Day. Foundation students participated in many different athletic activities and they were over the moon to receive ribbons and points for their house colours.

Christmas Concert

On Monday the 9th of December, we had our whole school Christmas Concert. It was such an amazing evening and all Foundation students had a blast! They had worked so hard over several weeks to practise their Christmas songs 'I'm getting nuttin' for Christmas', 'I wish it could be Christmas everyday' and 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'.

Whole School ' Meet the Teacher'

On Thursday 19th December, students met their teacher for next year and saw who was in their class. They are all looking forward to next year and many have said they are eager to make new friends and learn new things!

Christmas

The past week has been very festive with students completing fun Christmas activities. Some classes have made ornaments and others have made Santa's using paper plates. We can definitely tell students are getting into the Christmas spirit and are looking forward to next week.

Farewell for 2024

As this is the last newsletter for 2024, we wish you all a happy, fun, relaxing and safe holiday! We can't wait to see all these Foundation students ready for Grade 1 next year!
