Primary Life

Music: Primary Music Concerts
Dave Bonfa and Judy Paterson, Primary Music Teachers
Our Primary Music Concert began with the words:
“Shout for joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious.”
And indeed, glorious sounds filled our school as students raised their voices in song, played instruments in harmony, performed lively dance routines, and created rhythm with boom whackers and buckets.
This year's concert was divided into two segments. The first featured our incredible Prep to Year 2 students, followed by performances from Years 3 to 6.
The concert showcased a diverse range of performances, including solo acts, group ensembles, and choirs. After weeks of practice and learning to work together, it was truly inspiring to see the students express their creativity and passion for music. The event fostered a strong sense of community, with the smiles and applause of parents contributing to a warm and joyful atmosphere.
Our Year 6 captains did an exceptional job engaging the audience with their cheerful introductions, ensuring the event flowed smoothly from start to finish.
The concerts also featured performances from some our primary ensembles, including the Primary Vocal Ensembles, Chimes Ensemble, and the IBP Beginner Concert Band.
We are grateful to God for the gift of music and the joy it brings to our school.
Sing the glory of His name!
Art: Exhibition
Zoe Hardy, Primary Art Teacher
All our students have spent the year exploring the world of art and this past week we invited our families and friends to enjoy perusing our explorations. We’ve reflected on great artists and observed beauty in God’s creation and His character. We have sought to honour Him as we explore the resources He’s generously given us and study techniques used by artists over many hundreds of years.
Listening, looking, asking, painting, wondering, cutting, threading, rolling, tying, sticking, knotting, drawing, designing, hoping, trying, weaving and trying again. We are made to work and we have worked well! Praise God for His works of beauty!
Year 6: The Power to Change - Year 6 Political Campaigns
Harry Foster, Year 6 Team Leader
This term, the Year 6 students delved into Australia's democratic system of government and explored current community issues on both local and national levels. As part of their action project, the students formed political parties, each addressing a specific issue within our school.
The students developed campaigns to present their proposals. Ideas ranged from solving the car park congestion with a specialised app to introducing staggered lunch times for different year levels to create more play space. Each group was encouraged to think big and be creative.
The project culminated in the students learning about the preferential voting system, where they voted for another class's political party at the mock election. This authentic learning experience provided valuable insights into the workings of democracy and the power of collaborative problem-solving.
