STEM

This week in STEM, the Grade 3 & 4 students learnt lots of interesting facts about Earth and Space Science. They found out that:

- The Earth rotates on its axis every 24 hours.

- The Earth orbits around the sun every 365.25 days.

- Earth’s rotation causes observable patterns like night & day.

- Earth’s orbit causes some stars to be visible only in certain months.

The students then made their own sundial using a paper plate, bendy straw and a sundial template. It was lots of fun taking them outside on the oval to put them into action!!!!

ITALIAN

In Italian, F-2 students have been learning to pronounce Buon Natale (Merry Christmas), La Befana and Babbo Natale (Santa Claus).  Students have listened to “Santa Claus is coming to town” in italian and joining in with the chorus.

We have a terrific display of google slides outlining some facts about Christmas in Italy created by the grade 3-6 students.  One interesting fact the students discovered was that seafood is usually eaten on Christmas Eve in Italy rather than meat. This has originated from the feast of the seven fishes which is a religious celebration.
