2024
Wow, what a year it’s been in the F/1 beehive! As we wrap up 2024, our classroom has been buzzing with exciting activities, learning, and plenty of festive cheer. Here’s a snapshot of our final weeks together:
Transition Day: Excitement was in the air as we met our new classroom teachers and peers for 2025 on Transition Day! Everyone showed kindness and courage as they explored their new learning spaces and made connections with future classmates. It’s clear this group is ready to shine next year!
Jingles Arrives!: Our classroom elf, Jingles, made a grand entrance this week, spreading holiday magic and mischief. Each morning, the students eagerly discovered Jingles' new spot and giggled at his playful antics. He’s definitely added some sparkle to our final days together.
International Day of Disability at Kyabram Health: We had an amazing time celebrating inclusion and diversity at the International Day of Disability event. From pedaling a bike to blend smoothies, enjoying gelato, and getting creative with face paint, it was a day full of fun and learning.
Gingerbread Directed Drawing: The F/1s teamed up with the Grade 5 students for a special gingerbread-themed art session. Following a directed drawing activity, the students created the most delightful gingerbread masterpieces while enjoying some quality time with their older buddies.
F/1 Liturgy: A highlight of the term was running and presenting our F/1 liturgy to the whole school and a wonderful parent audience. The students spoke beautifully, sang joyfully, and shared the true meaning of the season. We are so proud of their efforts and courage!
As we say goodbye to 2024, I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support, kindness, and encouragement throughout the year. It has been an absolute privilege to watch your children grow, learn, and shine.
Wishing you all a safe, joyful holiday season and a very happy New Year!!
Warmest wishes,Miss Bennett
Christmas Spirit
In Grade 1/2 we have been really getting into the Christmas Spirit! We have been unwrapping Christmas books daily to read aloud together during Fruit Break. We have had some funny stories, especially ones comparing the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. We also have a class Advent calendar and we have been opening up Disney collectable books. Lastly, we have an Elf named Elfie. He had a rough start to December and was unable to remember his name so the Grade 1/2‘s wrote him some letters with some name suggestions.
Ice Cream Sundaes
We have been loving the ice cream sundaes on some Fridays. Especially last Friday when it was super hot, it was just the thing that we all needed to get ourselves cooled down before our last Assembly for 2024.
Egg Collection
Last week the Grade 1/2 ‘s were on egg collection. Our best day was Monday when we collected a bucket full of eggs after the weekend!

Last week, our Grade 5/6 students embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Queenscliff, and it’s safe to say they had the time of their lives! From the moment they arrived, the students felt at home, greeted warmly with knitted goods on their beds—a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the entire camp.
Without wasting any time, the students dove straight into the fun, heading to the beach for boogie boarding. This activity quickly became a favourite as everyone challenged each other to ride the fastest and strongest waves. The laughter and cheers made it clear that this was an activity they wouldn’t soon forget.
The next morning started with a trip to Ocean Grove for a surfing lesson. Students practised their skills on land before venturing into the water to catch some waves. To everyone’s amazement, several students stood up on their boards on the first try, showcasing natural surfing talent. This experience was undoubtedly a highlight, with students buzzing with excitement long after they left the beach.
Later that day, the group explored Point Lonsdale, delving into the history of its iconic lighthouse and the nearby wartime bunkers that protected Australia during World War II. It was a fascinating journey through history, made even more special by the stunning coastal views.
The ocean adventures continued on the final day with a fishing charter in Geelong. While the fish weren’t overly hungry, the students managed to reel in a good catch, which they later sampled after dinner. The charter provided a peaceful and scenic escape, with students soaking in the beauty of the open water. Later, the group explored the Queenscliff jetty, spotting stingrays, banjo sharks and other marine life.
Adding to the fun, camp leader Asha taught the students to play 40/40 Homebase, an instant favourite among the group. The students spent their final evening and morning immersed in the game, forming lasting memories and enjoying the wonderful camaraderie fostered by the camp leaders at Cottage by the Sea.
We were also fortunate to have Harry Shortis and Jordy Rasmussen volunteer their time to join us on camp. Their energy, humour, and dedication to making the experience enjoyable added so much to the trip. Thank you, Harry and Jordy, for your generosity and support—it made all the difference!
It was incredible to see the students step out of their comfort zones and succeed in new challenges, like surfing. Their enthusiasm, resilience, and teamwork made them a terrific group to take away. The students left camp with big smiles, full hearts, and memories that will last a lifetime.
We’d like to thank the staff at Cottage by the Sea, our camp leaders, and everyone who made this camp such a wonderful success.
