Grandparents and Special Friends Day at South Plympton
We were delighted to welcome your childrens' grandparents and special friends to school yesterday!
It was lovely seeing students share activities, games, stories and drawings with such important people in their lives.
The bond between grandparents and grandchildren is truly special, and many of our students look forward to this day each year.
After visiting the classrooms, our guests enjoyed a picnic on the College's lawn while watching student performances. A warm thank you to all the grandparents, friends and special persons who spent this time with our students.
Year 3-6 Sports Day
Last Friday, our Brooklyn Park and South Plympton Year 3-6 students united for Sports Day, having a fantastic time running, jumping, and throwing. We are very proud of all our students who did their best to compete and cheer for their teams.
Congratulations to Topaz for winning first place, with only two points separating them from Ruby!
Thank you to Emmaus amazing staff and sports department for organising such a great day for our students! We also extend our thanks to our valued parents and families who took the time to come along and support our students!
OSHC Guinea Pigs
Meet Sonic (named by Amir H) and Cookie - our brand new OSHC friends!
Joining us twice a week are our lovely guinea pigs. The OSHC children, filled with curiosity, took a long peek, gave them lots of love and fed them lots of carrots.
At OSHC, we learnt how to treat them safely and carefully, and that taking care of animals is a lot of responsibility. They all did a fantastic job of acting calm around them, patting them one at a time and giving them space when needed.

Year 5/6 Movie Study Paddington
The Year 5/6 students have been exploring the Australian Federation, studying the film Paddington, and strengthening their narrative and persuasive writing skills.
As part of their Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) learning, students designed their own colonies in small groups and then collaborated to federate with others in the class. They shared their understanding of Federation and the challenges involved in uniting the colonies and creating the new nation of Australia.
Through our Paddington movie study, students reflected on the importance of kindness, acceptance, and helping others. They recognise that people from different backgrounds can work together and belong. They also discussed ideas such as the belief that everyone deserves love regardless of who they are or what they look like, and that having a family is one of the most valuable things in life. Students recognised how music sets the mood and tone for various scenes.

Playing Pétanque and eating croissants simultaneously at the Pétanque Tournament
On Thursday, 19 March, two teams participated in the annual South Australian French Teachers Association (SAFTA) Pétanque Tournament at Unley Park Sports Club. Free croissants were passed around as the students played their games, and a new skill was unlocked - throwing a boule with a croissant in your other hand or mouth.
Our students showed great improvement in the accuracy of their throws and other coaches commented on their prowess.
Emmaus A started with an 8-0 win, but the following games were a bit more challenging. Emmaus B made it all the way to the quarter finals! All students showed excellent sportsmanship, and the organiser commented on their good manners and respect. Many thanks to the parents who supported us and “Bien joué!” to our team members.
