It was a pleasure to see our student voice in action yesterday, with our Year 5 and 6 representatives, Ben and Ben, proudly participating in the Whitehorse City Council Student Advisory Group. Alongside more than thirty student leaders from primary schools across Whitehorse, they engaged thoughtfully in discussions about their communities and the role young people play in shaping them.
During the day, students had the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Whitehorse City Council, Kirsten Langford, and deepen their understanding of how the three levels of government in Australia, local, state and federal, work together to support and serve our communities.
We are incredibly proud of the way Ben and Ben represented our school with courage, ambition and compassion. Their involvement in asking questions and making suggestions was a wonderful example of student leadership in action and highlights the importance of empowering young people to have a voice in their community.

It was wonderful to celebrate our first Whole School Celebration Day for the year on Tuesday, recognising the incredible efforts of our students in earning over 4,000 positive acknowledgement eggs so far. This milestone reflects the consistent way our students demonstrate our school values in their everyday actions, with these positive behaviours contributing to 40 birds proudly filling our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) tree.
Following lunch, classrooms came alive with a wide range of creative activities. Students had the opportunity to explore pipecleaner creations, painting, construction challenges and computer coding, showcasing their imagination and problem-solving skills across both the Visual Arts and STEM. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, collaboration and pride in their work.
Adding to the excitement, students embraced the occasion by wearing wonderfully creative outfits, bringing colour and personality to the day.
I would like to thank our Junior School Council for their role in helping to plan this celebration, and our staff for creating such engaging opportunities for students. Most importantly, congratulations to our students for the positive way they contribute to our school community every day.

The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take protected industrial action under the Fair Work Act on Tuesday 24 March 2026.
As a result of this action, we expect significant disruption to the normal operation of the school. We will have reduced staffing on the day, and it will not be possible to provide our usual teaching and learning program.
Students are not required to attend school on this day, and we strongly encourage families to make alternative arrangements and keep children at home where possible. Any absences will be recorded as ‘Industrial Action’ and will not affect individual student attendance records.
For families who are essential workers and require supervision for their children, please contact the school office as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Victorian teachers achieve outstanding outcomes for students, yet remain the lowest funded and lowest paid in the country. This action has not been taken lightly and reflects ongoing concerns about resourcing and conditions in Victorian schools.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school in 98905023 or box.hill.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au
