This week, our community joined schools and communities across Australia in celebrating Harmony Week. Held each March, Harmony Week recognises and celebrates the cultural diversity that enriches our nation and our school community. It also provided an opportunity to truly express our values of Inclusion and Respect.
Australia is one of the most culturally diverse societies in the world and, being a neighbourhood school, our College reflects that wonderful richness. Families in our community bring languages, traditions, stories and experiences from many parts of the globe. Harmony Week offered a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge these gifts and deepen our understanding of one another.

Throughout the week, students engaged in activities highlighting the importance of cultural inclusion and respect. Classroom discussions, chapel reflections and community activities encouraged students to consider how we build a community where difference is welcomed and every person is treated with dignity.
Harmony Week also reminded us that harmony is not simply the absence of conflict; it is the active practice of kindness, curiosity and empathy. As a Christian school, these values reflect our commitment to love our neighbour and honour the dignity of every person.
An important part of this commitment is the way we support families from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Our Everyday English classes provide valuable opportunities for parents and carers to build confidence in their English, connect with others, and more fully engage in school life. These sessions not only strengthen communication but also foster a deeper sense of belonging within our community. You can find out more about our classes here.
I encourage families to speak with their children about the significance of the week and to celebrate the many cultures that shape our shared community. Together, may we continue to build a College where everyone truly belongs.
