Robotics Competition
What a great start to 2024. I have loved walking through the STEM centre and seeing all of our students engaging in their science classes right from the start of the year. The Yr 7’s have been learning about the particle model and getting their Bunsen Burner licences! The Yr 9 forensics classes, an elective subject, have been investing crimes using the scientific method. Our VCE classes have also been busy building the skills of the students to prepare them for Yr 12 and beyond.
Blackburn High School's Robotics team "Burnouts" have also been busy prototyping and developing the Robot for this year’s challenge. They returned from competition in Windsor NSW and should be very proud of what they were able to do over the weekend. Being a relatively new team to the competition we knew our robot wasn’t going to win however, they can be proud that they got a ‘personal best’ in the sense it is the most advanced Robot that they have ever built and it performed in all the ways they planned. It was also a pleasure to be told by multiple volunteers how respectful and kind our students were in the way they conducted themselves throughout the competition.
If any students are wanting to join the robotics team, we will happily invite any student at least in Yr 8 to join us next term to prepare for the mid-year competition that we host here at our school. Get in touch with Ms Love or any members of the team to do so.
I hope everyone has a safe Easter break, I can’t wait to see what occurs in Term 2!
