Denise's Message

Dear Families,

Staff news

Kate Johnston Yr 1/2KF Teacher

I share with you the exciting news that Kate and her husband Marcus are expecting their second child in June this year. Kate will remain teaching until her maternity leave begins which will be in mid Term 2.

I am currently in the process of advertising for her replacement and as soon as we have chosen the person to fulfill Kate’s role I will inform you all.

I know that you will join me in congratulating Kate and Marcus and their daughter Scout, on this wonderful news, a very exciting chapter in their lives.

Toni Williams Learning Support Officer Yr 5/6

During the Christmas break, Toni became very ill and spent time in hospital. She spent some time recovering at home but has recently had a setback in her health and is now back in hospital. Toni is a strong and determined lady and is working hard to get better so she can return to work as soon as possible.

I know that you will keep her in your prayers and thoughts.

St Michael's Open Day

Our Open Day is on Tuesday 19th March. On this day, we welcome families who are interested in joining our school in 2025 or beyond. I ask you to encourage family and friends who may have children starting school in 2025 to attend this event to see our school in action. If you have a child starting school in 2025 I ask you to collect an enrolment form from the office or download it from our website and submit it as soon as possible.

If you live locally and own a business or you know a business that would happily display our advertising poster, please collect copies from our office, your help in advertising our school would be much appreciated.

St Michael's School Advisory Council Annual General Meeting

Our first School Advisory Council meeting for 2024 is on Tuesday 5th March, 7:00pm.

This will be our Annual General Meeting so all parents/carers are welcome to come along. We welcome new members to our School Council as it is a great way in which you can contribute to your child's education and to the education of all children in our community.

Parents and Friends Association

Our Parents and Friends Association plays an important role at St Michael’s.  It is a voluntary group of parents who plan various activities or events to support our school to enhance a sense of community as well as improve the resources our children need to enhance their learning.

We have had a wonderful response from many parents to our request for help and we look forward to working with them in organising some great times ahead for our community.

Welcome BBQ

Our welcome BBQ is on Thursday 29th February 5pm-6.30pm.

We invite all families to come along and share some fun with the St Michael's Community. Please see the flyer with all the information included.

Child Safety and Wellbeing at St Michael's Primary School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

St Michael's Primary School frequently reviews and updates our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures, and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, you can raise them with a member of our School Advisory Committee or directly with me.
