Performing Arts

What learning has been happening during Performing Art this term?

The children from Prep-6 have been exploring body percussion as a way of responding to the rhythm and beat in contemporary songs. They have been singing and playing chopsticks and percussion instruments to improvise and practise a repertoire of chants and songs. The Year 5/6s did their best with African drumming, improvising with tambours and tambourines whilst learning about ‘The 8 Elements of Music’. The Year 3/4 children made their own percussion orchestra. The timbre and texture were very unique!

Some children love to sing and some prefer to listen and that’s okay.

Some children love to dance and others prefer to watch and that’s okay.

All the children have demonstrated a keen interest in playing a variety of percussion instruments, learning many new names and the variety of sounds they make.
