From the Principal

Rudy Vail

Dear Parents and Carers,

Building Family partnerships

Families and schools stand as pivotal settings in the lives of children, exerting significant influence on their education, motivation, and overall well-being. Recognising the profound impact of their collaboration, we at OLHC prioritize and cherish our partnership with parents. Here are examples of ongoing and recent partnerships that underscore our commitment to fostering a holistic and thriving educational experience for every child.

Parent teacher Conversations:

This week, I had the pleasure of connecting with families during Parent-Teacher Conversations, and it was truly heartening. These sessions serve as a valuable platform for fostering and sustaining positive, collaborative partnerships with parents and caregivers.

At OLHC, we extend the opportunity for parents and caregivers to engage in these insightful conversations twice a year. These formal discussions facilitate meaningful dialogue between teachers, parents, and caregivers, addressing student achievement, learning behavior, and sharing the progress of each child. Together, we establish goals aimed at enhancing learning experiences and future achievements.

Moreover, these sessions provide teachers with a deeper understanding of the students in their classrooms, allowing for valuable insights into preferred learning styles. This reciprocal exchange of information empowers both educators and parents to contribute significantly to the educational journey of each student.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our families and dedicated teachers for their collaborative efforts in forging partnerships that positively impact our students' outcomes. Together, we are creating a supportive and enriching environment for our students to thrive.

Prep and Grade 1 Parents’ Dinner

Another way that our community will engage with families is through the Prep and Grade 1 Parents’ dinner. This will be held on Wednesday the 28th February and will be held in the Community Centre. This is a great opportunity for families to share a meal and get to know some of the other families in our school community. The PFOL will be hosting the dinner and we hope to see as many of the Prep and 1 families there.

Enrolment Maximisation Team

Recognising the paramount importance of the school and family partnership theme, the School Advisory Council (SAC) at OLHC has pinpointed a crucial objective – the exploration of strategies aimed at maximizing enrolment opportunities within our school. To achieve this goal, we are in the process of establishing an Enrolment Maximisation Team (EMT). SAC Chair, Mark Lafferty, is proactively seeking individuals from our community who are enthusiastic about contributing to this initiative.

We extend a warm invitation to all community members to share their insights. However, if you possess specific skills in any of the following areas, we especially encourage you to get involved:

·     Kindergarten employee

·     Search engine optimization

·     Web design

·     Social media marketing

·     Advertising

·     Marketing/PR

We urge you to reach out and express your interest in joining the EMT by emailing Mark at mark.lafferty@cbre.com.au. Your active participation can play a pivotal role in the growth and prosperity of our school.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend

Kind regards,

Rudy Vail

Principal
