Foundation-Grade 1 Miss Bennett

Two weeks of lots of learning for the busy bees in the F/1 hive. The F/1 Students have been focusing on getting into their learning routines. They've been learning what our literacy block looks like and includes each day and how we start our maths sessions.

Some highlights over the past two weeks for our F/1 Bees were:

Visiting and borrowing books from the library: HOW AMAZING IS OUR LIBRARY!! This is the highlight for our F/1 students, they have been borrowing their library books every Monday, they enjoy browsing, choosing a book to take home and then picking a book for Miss Bennett to read aloud.

Shrove Tuesday: Last week we learnt about Shrove Tuesday and were lucky enough to taste some yummy pancakes from our excellent parent helpers. They enjoyed cutting and pasting a Shrove Tuesday sentence and drawing a picture into their Religion books.

Text-Based unit: In writing, the F/1 Students began their new text-based unit on the book 'Tom Tom'. They completed building the field by looking at what materials houses can be made out of and how houses and families can differ from their own. They have just begun 'Turn[ing] and Talk[ing]' about the story and enjoyed sharing their comprehension questions with each other before sharing as a whole-group.

Mental Maths and Number practice warm-up: We're off and racing in maths with our new Maths Daily Review and warm-up activities. The Grade 1's have been loving using their 'Mental Maths' books to revise their number skills, during this time, The Foundation students have been on the floor with Miss Bennett practicing their numbers 0-5, with a focus on writing their numbers the correct way.

Grade 4 Mrs Loughran

The Grade 4's have been working hard on their Learning Goals for Term 1.  It has been wonderful to meet with parents and have the students discuss their goals and how they will achieve them.  When writing their goals, the students learnt about achievable goals.  I have no doubt that the students will achieve their Term 1 Learning goals.

Grade 5-6 Miss Rasmussen

Last week, our Grade 6 students attended the GRIP Leadership Day in Shepparton. They embraced valuable leadership messages and connected with peers from other schools, showcasing their leadership skills on a grand stage.

In Mathematics, we've been focusing on whole numbers, exploring factors, multiples, and honing our skills through daily 'Maths Mentals' tasks.

Our English sessions have been centered around 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', where we're delving into subordinate conjunctions and enjoying the rich language of this classic tale.

Next week, some of our classmates will be commissioned as FIRE Carriers, leading us proudly in this role.

We recently had a beautiful class prayer focused on St. Brigid, with all readers doing an amazing job. Congratulations to them for their efforts!
