Specialist Classes

SPORT

In sport we have been having fun with lawn bowls. Practicing our skills performing rolls aiming at target areas. We have mixed it up with some individual practice and healthy team competitions. We have even been able to escape the heat to play indoors in the Cildara. Pat on the back to our Sporty Paddys.

Best of luck to all of our swimmers at our very first swim carnival next week! What a cracker Jack start to the term we have had!

STEM

This week the senior students were lucky enough to spend time with David Williams from Catholic Education Sandhurst. David specialises in the areas of Digital Technologies and STEM.

David introduced the classes to Makey Makey which is an invention kit where everyday objects are transformed into touchpads empowering students to interact with computers as creative tools. The computer becomes an extension of students’ creativity, fostering imaginative play and discovery.

He also demonstrated lots of new elements to Keynote and how to take slideshow presentations to the next level.

All classes loved learning new things and are super excited to work with our newly purchased Makey Makey kits later on in the year.

ART

During the first few weeks of Art we’ve been working on drawing skills and techniques, including real life object drawing, sketching, shading and stippling (dots.) Everyone has been very proud of their artworks and enjoyed how relaxing the drawing process is. We also can’t wait to begin drawing some illustrations to go with our recipes for the school recipe book!
