Learning Power Award Recipients
Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

PA | Kaira | for being a motivated and resilient learner who has been super focused during floor time and doing her best in all learning tasks! Kaira has shown that she is ready for school by demonstrating positive learning behaviours like following instructions quickly, contributing to group discussions and never giving up. You should be very proud of yourself for an incredible start to the year, Kaira. Well done! |
PN | Kevin | For being a collaborative learner who has adjusted to Prep with a great big beautiful smile on his face. Kevin’s kind and enthusiastic nature is infectious in the classroom making everyone feel excited about learning. Great job, Kevin. |
1/2C | Akira | For being a reflective learner during writing tasks last week. Akira reflected on her work and asked the teacher for suggestions on how she could make it even better. What a great example of how to drive your learning Akira. |
1/2S | Bentley | For being a motivated learner in all areas of his learning. Bentley is an eager learner who actively takes part in classroom discussions and takes on teacher feedback to improve his learning. We are lucky to have such a positive and enthusiastic learner in our class to be a role model to others. Thank you, Bentley! |
1/2A | Rey | For being a creative learner, you have leapt into this year with a curious approach to learning, you are experimenting with different solutions to problems and thinking outside the box. We have enjoyed your enthusiasm for Maths and are keen to see how you creatively approach our Place Value in the next few weeks. Well done Rey! |
3/4L | Hartez | For being a motivated and driven learner in the classroom last week! Hartez completed all tasks to a high standard and demonstrated a drive for engagement by asking for feedback! Well done superstar! |
3/4O | Lucas | For being a motivated and driven learner during literacy and maths last week. Lucas worked hard to complete the literacy grid tasks to a high standard and asked questions to drive his learning in maths. Keep up the great work, Lucas! |
3/4S | Sofia | For being a collaborative learner who is a supportive member of our classroom community. Sofia is always willing to help and support others, making our classroom a great place to be. Well Done Sofia. |
5/6N | Marcus | For being a motivated learner, who used the inferences from the image and considered the details. You’ve applied them to create a cohesive paragraph using the “show don’t tell” strategy. This is a fantastic example of using an image as a springboard for creative writing. |
5/6K | Charlotte | For being a creative and resilient learner in Mathematics this week. You tackled our challenging maths problem with creativity and resourcefulness, setting a great example for others. Keep up this fantastic way of thinking! |
5/6S | Mila | For being a reflective learner, who takes the time to think about her learning and considers where to go next. You are great at listening to others and considering their point of view. You are open to suggestions about doing things a different way and sharing what you have discovered with your classmates. Fantastic effort Mila! |

PN | Baani | For being a reflective learner who is bravely thinking about all the letter-sounds she knows and linking this to her learning in writing to begin to record sentences all by herself. Well done for believing in yourself and challenging yourself Baani, you are a great role model in Prep N. |
1/2C | Saachi | For being a motivated learner in all lessons this week. Saachi got on with her work independently and listened carefully to feedback during a Mathematics game about place value, and used the feedback to improve her learning. What a great example for the rest of the class. Keep up the wonderful work Saachi. |
1/2S | Casper | For being a resilient learner this week, particularly in writing. He is beginning to develop his confidence as a writer and ask for teacher or peer support and is becoming more comfortable with making mistakes. His writing piece about dogs was so impressive this week he had to go and show Elise! Well done, Casper! |
1/2A | Neelah | For being a resilient learner who sees mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow. This is evident in our morning literacy sessions. You are engaged and responsive to the teachers which is the best attitude to have to learn and grow. Well done Neelah for doing your best and a little bit more. |
3/4L | Sarah | For being a kind and collaborative student who is consistently demonstrating what it means to be a SMDP student. Sarah is always happy to assist others in the classroom by seeing a need and doing whatever it takes! You patiently help your classmates find their perfect book, by listening to their interests and suggesting a variety of book options to choose from.
