2024 Badges ASSEMBLY

Recognising Student Achievement and Leadership

Students, parents, staff and specials guests such as Local MP Gary Mass and Scott gathered to celebrate our new student leaders for 2024. All attendees reflected on the core values that define our school community – Respect, Learning, and Working Together. These values serve as the compass guiding us towards excellence and unity.

At Hampton Park Secondary College our students achieve remarkable things. We have the highest of expectations because we know our students can and do achieve success. We believe success comes in many shapes and sizes and we know, one size does not fit all. Each student who enters our gates is capable of achieving more than those before them. It is with determination, self-belief, grit, and a positive attitude that they can become the architect of their own destiny.

In 2023 we saw many examples of success.

Our Median Study Score was 29, 2 points up from the 4 years prior, and higher than we have ever achieved

87% of our students achieved a study score over 50 and as Mr Broecker has shared on behalf of Mr Haworth, 32% of our students achieved an ATAR over 80

We saw a Year 11 student achieve a study score of 47 out of 50 in General Math and we had 52 study scores over 35.

But success is not defined by a number. What determines success is where students end up after they leave our gates and whether the work has supported them to reach their chosen pathway to reach their desired destination. I am very pleased to share:

  • 95% of our students received an offer to a tertiary institution
  • Our VPC students have left us with 2 SBATs, a VET qualification, pre apprenticeships and now Apprenticeships.
  • 97% of our Year 12 cohort successfully completed their Year 12 certificate which has opened up doors for them – no matter whether it was VCE, VM or VPC
  • 7 students were awarded with the Victorian Pathways Certificate, which was new last year, and some of these students fully completed the certificate in Year 11.

At HPSC, This is success. Our students have left being able to access the pathway they needed and wanted. We could not be any prouder.

Success is defined by what you are prepared to do. It is the product of your choices and actions

Quotes from Student Leaders, "As we gather here today, let us reflect on the incredible opportunity we’ve been given—the gift of education. Each one of us has embarked on a journey, a journey filled with endless possibilities and opportunities waiting to be seized. Education is not merely about attending classes or passing exams; it’s about embracing knowledge, nurturing curiosity, and honing skills that will shape our future. It’s about discovering our passions, unlocking our potential, and realizing our dreams."

"As you navigate through the corridors of learning, let’s make the most of every resource at our disposal. Seeking guidance from our teachers, exploring the depths of our library, collaborating with our peers, and embracing the power of technology. In a world filled with endless distractions and competing priorities, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. But amidst the noise, remember why you’re here. You’re here to learn, to grow, and to become the best version of yourself. So, my dear students, we challenge you all to rise to the occasion. Seize every opportunity that comes your way, embrace every challenge as a chance to grow, and never settle for anything less than your best. Last year, the year 12s were great, but we, the class of 2024 and 2025 are amazing! Let us embark on this journey of learning, exploration, and discovery. Let us strive for excellence, inspire one another, and leave a legacy that will endure for generations to come."
