Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Staff,

Thank you to all families who attended the Learning Conferences this week. Learning conferences are highly valuable as they provide students with the opportunity to reflect on their level of application and understanding of the concepts studied, with guidance from our dedicated staff.

Recently, we conducted a special assembly to acknowledge and celebrate the achievement of our high achieving students from the class of 2023.  Thank you to our special guests, Luke Delutis, School Council President, Gary Maas, our Local Member of Parliament, and members of our Alumni.  During this assembly, we also presented our 2024 student leaders with their leadership badges.

92nd Legacy ANZAC Day Commemoration.

Each year, with a whole school assembly, our college stops to reflect on the significance of ANZAC Day. This year in addition, we are in the process of planning for a special visit to the Shrine of Remembrance. Student leaders and selected students will be invited to participate in the 92nd Legacy ANZAC Day Commemoration for students. The event will take place on Friday 19th April, the end of the first week of Term 2.  Last week, the Hampton Park Progress Association provided information about their Dawn Service. As with the Remembrance Day service last year, I am interested in students joining me at the local commemoration, to lay a wreath on behalf of all students and staff of our college.

Student safety

Riding bikes to school is a healthy way to commute. A reminder that in the interest of safety (and complying with Victorian road rules, bike and scooter riders are required to wear helmets. To assist with safety, when entering and while within our school grounds, students are required to walk their bikes to and from the external gates. Thank you for your co-operation.

School Photographs were held this week. The photo back up day is on Thursday 28th March. Photographs of our student leaders and any student/staff who may have missed being photographed will be taken on this day.

Science showcase

Thank you to Austin, Alex, Amy and Veronica for representing our college at the Lynbrook Primary Twilight Picnic. All students displayed their passion for science by providing engaging science experiences for primary school students.  Thank you also to Ms. Christen Barnard, Ms. Erandika Abeywardane and Mr Brad Andrews for supporting the promotion of our college at this community event.

Final part of Stage 3 Building upgrades has commenced.

I am excited to report that the final part of our Stage 3 building program has commenced. Demolition is well underway for the preparatory work for creating new learning spaces. The building will become the new Mabo House administration and general-purpose classrooms.  We expect that these new spaces will be accessible later in the year.

End of Term

A reminder that due to Easter, Term 1 concludes on Thursday 28th March. The dismissal time will be 2.30pm. Term 2 will commence on Monday 15th April.
