Continuing to introduce our amazing team of Educator's

Introducing Mrs Vanessa Bastiaans

My name is Vanessa Bastiaans and this is my third year as a Teacher at Curiosity.  I moved into teaching as my second career, having spent many years as an administrator in the South Australian Public Service and becoming a mum.  What I discovered that was missing from my work, was passion and wonder, and  a place to nurture others.  So I began my teaching studies and found my true passion for working with the youngest of learners in our formal schooling process.  I discovered that four year olds are amazing learners, who bring joy, enthusiasm and awe on their journey to discovering their world.

I am regularly guided by the children's questions and wonderings and support them to think critically.  I am a listener to their theories and interpretations in their quest to deepen their own knowledge.   I am blessed that at Curiosity, we are encouraged and free to extend our wonderings and learning to explore our Faith.  My values as a Christian are woven into our discussions in the Blue Team and our daily interactions with each other.

As I continue to learn through my life experiences as a mum to neurodivergent children, and refine my teaching skills and practice, I bring a growing understanding of the need for neuro-affirming practice. I am often told I bring a sense of calm to our learning space, and I pride myself on using this asset to build positive connections with the children.  I understand that sometimes, those connections take longer than others and that they cannot be rushed.

I welcome the opportunity to partner with each of the families that I am blessed to work with in the Blue Team.  Please know that you are free to contact me about your child, we are a team and a cheer squad here for your child, cheering for them to have success as a learner at Curiosity.

Introducing Mrs Jodie Frost

Hello, my name is Jodie Frost. Early childhood holds a special place in my heart for several reasons. Firstly, I firmly believe that every child is a unique individual, carrying their own talents, interests, and potential. It is crucial to provide them with a safe and supportive care setting that nurtures their individuality, allowing them to explore and express themselves freely.

Secondly, the love and value we gift upon children during their early years are paramount. Every child deserves to feel cherished and recognised for who they are. By providing an environment filled with love and positive reinforcement, we empower children to develop a strong sense of self-worth and confidence. This love becomes the cornerstone for their emotional and social well-being, creating a foundation for healthy relationships for life.

Lastly, I am passionate about ensuring that every child experiences a sense of inclusion and belonging within their community. Early childhood is a critical time to ensure the importance of diversity, acceptance, and understanding. By creating an inclusive environment, we enable children to appreciate differences, form meaningful connections, and develop a sense of belonging.
