Dear Families,
If your children will be exiting LPS at the end of the year, please let the office know asap for planning purposes. Additionally, if you know of families that are looking to move to LPS and have not yet submitted an enrolment form, please have them speak to the office ASAP.
Community and Kindness in Action
This week was an incredibly sad one for our school community as our staff came together to attend the celebration of Elise Ryan’s life, the much-loved daughter of Mrs Rachel Ryan.
To allow as many of our staff as possible to attend and support Rachel and her family, we asked our families, where they were able, to make alternative arrangements for their children on Monday afternoon.
The response from our community was extraordinary.
Across the afternoon, students were collected early by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends. Families rearranged work commitments, changed plans and helped one another out. We know that for many families, collecting children during the school day is not easy and required genuine changes to busy lives and schedules.
By doing so, you allowed our staff to be there for one of their colleagues and friends at an incredibly difficult time. It meant a great deal to all of us.
At Lysterfield, Community and Kindness are two of our school values. We talk with our students about what our values look like in practice, and this week our wider school community provided a pretty powerful example.
Community is about looking after one another and recognising that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. Kindness is often about noticing when someone needs support and doing what we can to provide it, even when it requires something from us.
This week, our families did exactly that.
We have also been incredibly grateful for the many messages, well wishes and expressions of care that have been shared with Rachel, her family and our staff. Each has been greatly appreciated.
Schools are obviously places of teaching and learning, but they are also communities of people. During difficult times, the strength of those relationships becomes particularly important.
This week we saw our Pegasus Family at its very best.
To every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend and family member who changed their plans, helped another family or simply sent a message of support, thank you.
You demonstrated exactly what Community and Kindness look like at Lysterfield. 💜

We just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the LPS community for the love, compassion and generosity you have shown us throughout Elise’s journey.
We are so grateful for the funds raised for Neuroblastoma Australia last year, with the hope that they may contribute towards finding a cure or better treatments for this awful disease.
We are also incredibly grateful for the arrangements made for early pick-up, allowing our Pegasus family to be there to support us at Elise’s Celebration of Life. It meant more to us than we can put into words.
Elise had a beautiful send-off and is painfully missed every single day.
Thank you for holding us in your hearts. I will see you all soon.

Parent / Carer Opinion Survey
The annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey is now open, and we would love as many of our families as possible to take part.
The survey gives you the opportunity to share your views about LPS, including what you think we are doing well and where you think we could improve. The more families who participate, the better the survey will reflect the views of our whole school community.
