Mangrove Warriors

Today we continued the mangrove planting at Hastings foreshore with the Mangrove Warriors.  We spent the morning planting the last of our collected seeds.  Then we did a clean up of the old Bamboo stakes from last year's planting efforts.  

The children observed the different density levels of the mangroves and discussed possible reasons for this decline in  the mangrove numbers. We were very lucky to have Andy from Ozfish partner with us for his expertise in this field.  The team was very resilient when faced with muddy and slippery conditions.  Many were determined to find the perfect place to shelter their mangrove seed for planting.  

The team is now working on identifying different ways that we all can help our bay.
