Fighting for Felix

Felix Burgess (Class of 2023) has been battling Ewing’s Sarcoma – a very rare form of cancer – since 2022. The cancer has now returned, this time to Felix's lungs and possible treatment options are in the United States.

Fighting for Felix is a GoFundMe page raising funds for Felix's treatment overseas.

We know the strength and care of our Beda Community can make a big impact to Felix and his family.

Since reaching out to everyone in our St Bede’s College Community and Old Collegians for support, the response and generosity has been overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who has made a donation.

Thank you for your support, it means the world.

Year 7 Camps Begin

Our very first Year 7 camp for the year is underway, with lots of super excited students from our Bentleigh East Campus arriving to Cypress Lodge at our Phillip Island Outdoor Education Campus.

Over their next three days together, they'll head to the beach, explore Western Port Bay, go hiking, play games and enjoy a movie.

Campus Director at Bentleigh East, Trent Collins says the students are already having a great time and from the photos, they're bonding beautifully.

"The camp is a wonderful way for students to get to know others in their homeroom, while enjoying fun activities such as fishing and beach games.”

Celebrating Student Achievements

Congratulations to Ben Tohill (Year 7), who won the 15 and under Boys singles UTR Hume Tennis Tournament last week. Ben also recently won the 13 and under Boys doubles UTR Tournament at Shepparton over summer. Ben is very much looking forward to playing tennis for St Bede's College.

Welcome to our new College Careers Centre

The Careers Centre is for all students - from Years 7 to 12 - and it's open before, during and after school hours.

Here, students can discuss and manage their pathway options, with focus on subject selections, course exploration, wider post school options, preparing workplace documents and mock job interviews. There's also lots of helpful information from many tertiary providers, universities, TAFEs, apprenticeships, private institutions and more.

"It is never too early to work on goal setting and exploring options of interest, or to learn about Early Entry schemes and pre-requisite tasks and subjects – we can assist with all of this!

It's our aim to equip and upskill our students with knowledge and resources they need to navigate changes in their career, so they're ready for the future and ever-changing world. We help build their self-awareness, to realise their strengths, define their values and follow their passions with courage and self-belief.  We're committed to preparing confident and well equipped young adults who are ready to embrace life post-school.

We'll have lots of events including Career Expos, Tertiary Immersions, Year 9 Careers Week, guest presenters, Careers Week activities and webinars.

All of these things are here to help students manage the different stages of their future career journey. Pop in at recess or lunchtime to see how we can help you get where you'd like to go!"

We look forward to welcoming everyone - students, parents, staff and our Old Collegians alumni - and continuing the legacy of excellent Careers practice for our students and their families.
