From our College Captains

As we return for the start of a new school year, we hope all members of the St Bede's College Community have had an enjoyable and safe break and are ready to get started with what will be an incredible year!

As College Captains, the four of us were fortunate to attend the Lasallian Schools Leadership seminar in Sydney over the holidays. It was an exhilarating experience where we learnt about how we can best serve our community as College leaders, and how attitudes and school culture contribute a significant role in the potential for fulfilling all goals that aim to benefit the wider community.

Furthermore, the camp provided a fantastic opportunity to meet many like-minded students and youth ministers that are willing to share ideas and learn from each other.

We were part of a variety of workshops centred around what makes an effective leader. We gained valuable information about public speaking, time management, conflict resolution, faith, defining success, wellbeing, starting new initiatives and working effectively with each other and with staff.

We especially enjoyed a session with Br. Gary Coyte, former Principal of St Bede's College. With Br. Gary, we discussed how we can best of service to all members of our community, as this is a major part of being a Lasallian leader.

The camp was an incredible experience filled with music and laughter as we learnt more about ourselves, our connection with our faith and about how we can be the best leaders possible in 2024.

We would like to thank the organisers of the trip, the Young Lasallian Youth Ministry including Josh Cant and Liam Collins from St Bede's College, whose efforts made the event such a thrilling experience for us all. The trip has left the four of us excited to be of service to our community and we are excited to get started!
