Year7- Welcome
On Tuesday, 30th January 2024, we officially welcomed our newest members to the College for their first day of Secondary school, the class of Year 7 2024.
Even though over the duration of term 4 in 2023 we had a parent information session, plenty of grade six tours as well as orientation day, today officially marked the start of their secondary school journey at EMC and what a beautiful day it was. The sun was shining, the shoes were new, socks pulled up and everyone looked very smart in their EMC uniforms. There were lots of first day smile, nerves as well as the standard “first day of school photos” by the parents!
Families were welcomed into our wonderful college courtyard and had the opportunity to grab a quick coffee and chat to our college staff before attending a Q&A session with our college Principal Mr Dean King and Assistant Principal Mr Terry Kiat at LPAC, whist the students completed a literacy test, on site, in our Senior building.
The purpose of the day is to ensure we set every EMC student up for success. By completing a PAT test, we ensure that our teachers have the most recent academic levels of our students. Once completed the test, the students and parents sat down for a face-to-face interview with a Year 7 teacher. This gave the families the opportunity to ask any further questions.
We hope the families and students had an informative and productive day, and we wish all of our Year 7’s the most amazing journey over the next six years at the college.

Year 7 families, you have been invited to come and celebrate your child’s journey into Secondary College on Tuesday 5th March or Thursday 7th March via the Trybooking links on your compass account.
On the afternoon you will be able to wander down to your child’s home group room where you will be able to go inside and see some of their work on display. As this is a day for celebration we ask that if you have any questions in regards to your child progress please keep your questions for the formal Parent/Family conferences which will be held at the end of this term.
