Student Leadership

Introducing our Senior Student Leaders for 2024

College Captains:

Jorja Ambrose

Hi, my name is Jorja Ambrose and I am one of Elisabeth Murdoch Colleges 2024 school captains. Since the beginning of high school, I have always loved being involved in Leadership style activities such as running school tours, helping on open nights, and guiding new students at the beginning of their EMC journey. Participating in all of these activities led to my commitment to wanting to be a school leader at EMC. Within my leadership role at EMC, I am hoping to build a strong community connection between students, staff, parents, and carers. After completing year 12, I would currently like to become a sports physiotherapist or nutritionist studying at Deakin.

Lachlan Culton

My name is Lachlan Culton, and I am pleased to be one of your college captains for 2024.

Ever since beginning my journey at Elisabeth Murdoch College, I have been given the opportunities to develop on my leadership qualities. Representing my peers as class captain and science leader gave me experience in developing new ideas and working on improvements within the school. I applied for this position as school captain with the hope of improving the communal values of our school and providing new ways for EMC to support our outer community. I hope to make real progress in expanding extracurricular activities such as the debating club and a disability surfing program. After completing VCE, I hope to study an undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne before transferring to the United States to complete a law degree.

College Vice Captains:

Tara Noy

My name is Tara Noy, throughout my high school journey, I've always been eager to make the most of every learning opportunity and constantly push myself to improve. Stepping into the role of Vice College Captain, I see it as an incredible chance to grow as a leader and take on more responsibility while also representing and supporting my fellow students.

Beyond school, my passions include volunteering, performing, and lending a helping hand wherever I can. I truly believe that 2024 is our year to take risks and become the best versions of ourselves. I'm excited to work alongside each and every one of you to ensure that this year is filled with achievements, excellence, and pride. Let's make it a year to remember!

Gus Morrison

Hi, I’m Gus and I am one of your Vice-College captains for 2024. Throughout my time at EMC, I have always had the goal of being a college captain so that I can provide students with a positive and charismatic role model to look up to. This year I am aiming to improve students’ mindset and attitudes towards school. This year I am enrolled as a VCE Tertiary Pathway student with great aspirations of becoming a mathematician and or a musician (I play the trumpet). Outside of school hours (and study hours) I have many hobbies such as karate, gaming, tinkering with technology and learning random skills.

VM Captain:

Alexandra Humphrey

My name is Alexandra Humphrey, I'm the VM captain for this year. For my whole life I have always gone for every opportunity that has come my way, which is how I resulted in becoming a captain. In my junior years of high school, I was in the Murdoch Program and the leader in year 9, learning two musical instruments and being a part of school productions. I intend to throw myself at every opportunity 2024 gives me.

Music Captain:

Jay Sucher

My name is Jay Sucher, and I am a 2024 Music Captain.

Music has been a part of my life from mid-primary through to year 12, and it is one of my passions in life. I wanted to help my community however I could, as it has helped me countless times over the years. Beyond school, I plan to pursue a double degree in music and anthropology as learning about those topics brings me much joy.

I hope to improve the music department in any way I can in this coming year and the future.

Sports Captains:

Jemma Reynolds

I'm Jemma Reynolds and I'm a year 12 sport captain. I wanted to be a sports captain of EMC  because I have a passion for sport and wanted to challenge myself to become a leader and role model to the rest of the school.

My passion within sport is footy and cricket which I play outside of school and really enjoy. This year I'm hoping to learn how to be a better leader and encourage students at emc to participate in as much sport as possible. Beyond school I would love to become a secondary teacher and teach PE and Outdoor Ed, and it is also my dream to play AFLW. I'm really looking forward to this year in sport at EMC and hope to continuously improve the program we have here at EMC

Performing Arts Captain

Jack Coley

Hi I'm Jack Coley, I’m honoured to take on the role of your 2024 Year 12 Performing Arts Captain.

My decision to step into this role stems from a strong desire to amplify the presence of performing arts within EMC's vibrant culture. I'm determined to challenge the existing norms and perceptions surrounding performing arts. My mission is to break down any barriers and promote the invaluable personal growth that comes from participating in this field. Inclusivity is at the heart of my vision—I want every student, irrespective of their background, to feel empowered to engage in performing arts.

I'm deeply committed to nurturing budding talents and providing them with the necessary support and resources to flourish. Through my leadership at EMC, I aim to cultivate essential skills that will serve me well in my future endeavours.
