Reconciliation News

On Monday the 12th of February we had the ‘Reconciliation 2024 Parent Faith Formation Evening’ in preparation for the upcoming Reconciliation Faith nights.

On the night, the Sacramental team shared information for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Emphasis was placed on preparing our students in partnership as a ‘Parent Initiated, School Supported and Parish Based Program’. Fr Michael highlighted the historical perspective of Reconciliation and parents were informed of the resource, ‘Becoming Catholic Reconciliation - A practical guide for families’ By Kathy Horan. On Monday of this week Yr 4 children received this book. The aim of this book is to assist parents in helping to prepare their child at home, as well as building their own faith formation, in a partnership with conversations that will also be taking place at school.  The idea is that this text will be the catalyst to open up the ‘God talk’ at home... “What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation?” As well as providing scripture and an opportunity for family activities and reflection.

Risen Christ Parish will celebrate Reconciliation as a Communal Rite of Forgiveness and there will be a choice of two communal nights to celebrate this Sacrament. Your family can choose to attend:

  • Monday the 18th March 2024, 7pm  at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Church, Henry Street, Eltham.
  • Tuesday 19th March 2024, 7pm at St Francis Xavier Church, Mayona Road, Montmorency.

We look forward to meeting and sharing this moment soon.

Blessings to all.

Beginning of the Year Mass

The beginning of the Year mass meant we got to officially welcome everyone back including our Preps

But we were also able to say goodbye to Mr P and Grace. Acknowledge all they have done for the school.

We will however get to see Mr. P again at Twilight Sport where we can further acknowledge what he has contributed to the school for 25 years! We look forward to this.

LENT

On Wednesday the 14th of February we had the Ash Wednesday Mass at Parish of Risen Christ. Our Lady Help of Christians were also joined by student leaders and principals from our joint parishes, Holy Trinity and St. Francis Xavier.  Student leaders were tasked with applying the cross of ashes on the foreheads of members of the congregation.  They also read the prayers of the faithful and introduced the start of Project Compassion.
