From the Principal

Rudy Vail

Dear Parents and Carers,

As some of you may be aware, last Saturday evening my mother Ruth passed from a long battle with illness. The loss of a mother is always a difficult and challenging time.

I would like to thank all my new colleagues and Fr. Michael who have rallied around me, doing my yard duties, checking in on me, praying for me and helping me ease my workload. I am also thankful for the kind gestures of parents and students who have come and offered me their condolences. It has been wonderful to be embraced by the love and support of the OLHC community and it speaks volumes of who we are and the values we stand for as a school.

School Advisory Council (SAC) and Parents and friends of Our Lady’s (PFOL)

This week I have had the opportunity to work with both the SAC and PFOL. It is such a privilege to work with such hard-working people who are willing to donate their time and talents to improve OLHC school. Parents' active involvement in our SAC and PFOL play a crucial role in shaping the future of our school community. By joining these groups, you contribute to the strengthening of our school's foundation through enhanced communication, shared perspectives, and a supportive network. Your insights help us make informed decisions that positively impact our students' learning experiences.

Enrolment Maximisation Team

During Wednesday's SAC meeting, one of the key objectives highlighted was the exploration of strategies to maximize enrollment opportunities at our school. SAC Chair, Mark Lafferty, is actively seeking families who are interested in contributing to this initiative. We welcome the input of all community members, but if you possess specific skills or are affiliated with  organisations in any of the following areas, we especially encourage you to reach out:

  • Kindergarten/early childhood care
  • Search engine optimisation
  • Web design
  • Social media marketing
  • Advertising
  • Marketing/PR

Mark Lafferty's detailed communication on this matter can be found in the SAC news section of this newsletter.

Seesaw Platform

Towards the close of the previous year, the OLHC leadership team decided to discontinue the use of the Seesaw platform for communication due to its sub-optimal engagement rates and high costs. In light of this, we are actively exploring alternative platforms that better align with our communication needs while ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Kind regards

Rudy Vail
